About Michael Gottlieb’s Next!  (page three)

Praise for Michael Gottlieb:

Eileen Myles has written that the body of Gottlieb’s work focuses “much like the narrator does in Robert Musil’s epic The Man Without Qualities, on the dieicult moment in which one faces one’s culture and understands… what it is to be a man.”

His first memoir, “The Empire City,” now available in his Collected Memoirs, was described by the poet Elizabeth Fodaski as “doing for New York in the 70s what A Movable Feast did for Paris in the 20s.”

When it first appeared in print in 2003, Ron Silliman called Michael Gottlieb’s long poem about 9/11, “The Dust,” which has twice been adapted for stage, “the first great poetic work to emerge from the trauma of September 11.”

About Michael Gottlieb:

A native New Yorker and first-generation Language poet, Michael Gottlieb’s work includes memoirs and essays and has been often adapted for the stage. He divides his time between New York City and Connecticut. For more: www.michaelgottlieb-writing.com
