We are excited, at last, to have Beverly Dahlen’s
A READING/a collection, the complete version of the author’s amazing poem, begun in the 1970s and now available in all of its parts (some not before published) for the first time. Beverly Dahlen is much missed by all of us, all of her friends and loved ones. We thankfully have her poems.
Currently, this book can only be ordered directly from Chax Press, at the book page on this web site. Order HERE.
In a few weeks (or less) it will be available from our distributor, IPG Books, as well as from other booksellers.
Here her true unlike-anythingness, hear her see through, somehow about you, the “privacy in invention” becomes a reading. Dahlen’s is a gorgeous argument, methodical, indexed by intricate thinking. Historical and future, desire and emptiness. Simple. Mythical. “the antithesis of primal words” is primal too. A reading how it goes out remnants, resistant, her far and wide a future tense timed swing shift speaks up, generative — expect something else, “here was twisting, all kinds of thorniness.”
Careful. A normal heroine astounds. — Melanie Neilson and Jessica Grim
